From the Water Lily to the Strade Bianche—Liane’s Journey to the Top of the World

At the training camp in Spain, you can sense just how much Liane Lippert has made her mark in professional cycling—yet she never loses sight of the basics. She loves the energy of group training with her Spanish team, Movistar Women, but equally enjoys quiet solo rides: “I also like the contrast between riding with a group and riding on my own. Because sometimes it’s really nice to just be by yourself.” Starting with the Seerose club in Friedrichshafen, Liane’s career has taken off rapidly. At the recent Tour of Flanders, she finished a strong third and has long been considered one of the best riders in the world of professional cycling.

A coffee break in Spain—Liane’s everyday life away from the pro circuit

In her private life, Liane has remained surprisingly down-to-earth. She divides her time between her home on Lake Constance and Spain, where she spends most of the winter months. To stay focused on the racing highlights, she’s currently trying to travel as little as possible. But when she does find herself basking in the Spanish sun, she starts her day with a ritual: “After getting up, I grab a coffee to go and go for a walk first—then I do a short yoga session.”
Cycling no longer plays the same role in her everyday life (due to her professional career): “In my personal life, I actually don’t ride a bike that much anymore—if I do, it’s in the summer on a real city bike (laughs), where you don’t have to keep track of wattage.” Instead, she goes for a run or a walk—“because it’s just a different kind of exercise.”

Between a Dream World and Everyday Life

After major successes, there’s hardly any time to celebrate. “After achievements like winning a Tour stage, you feel like you’re in a dream world for a brief moment—but the next day, you have to get back to work.” The cycling season moves fast; the next race is already waiting. On the other hand, she also sees opportunities in this: “You can quickly put bad races behind you—you get a new chance to prove yourself.” October is when you finally gain the necessary perspective: “That’s when you look back and realize everything that’s happened.”

How BLACKROLL® Supported Her Rehab

After an injury, Liane learned to focus more on mobility and prevention. Particularly helpful: the BLACKROLL® LOOP and SUPER BANDS, as well as the MAT. “During the rehab phase, I could only train without weights at first—the resistance bands were perfect for that.”
She also incorporated the BLACKROLL® products into her long-term routine—for Liane, it’s more than just a supplement: it has become an integral part of staying healthy and performing at her best. On intense race days, the COMPRESSION BOOTS are a must-have for keeping her legs fresh after high-intensity exertion.

Vlogging Instead of Wattage—A Second Passion Takes Root

In addition to cycling, Liane has discovered a new passion: vlogging. On YouTube , she takes her fans along on her daily life, away from the racecourses. “Being in front of the camera isn’t new to me—I don’t put on a front; I’m just myself.” It’s going over well: “The first video got a lot of views right away—now it’s like a second passion.”
Still, she remains realistic: “I’d actually like to film more during training camps and throughout the season—but it’s more time-consuming than you’d think.”

Outlook: A Calendar Full of Classics

The upcoming season is jam-packed—with clear goals: “My main goals are the season’s Monuments: Strade Bianche, Milan–Sanremo, and the Ardennes classics.”
Added to that are all three Grand Tours—La Vuelta, the Giro d’Italia, and the Tour de France. And the World Championships? They hold a special significance for Liane: “I still have a score to settle at the World Championships—I’ve already finished fourth twice.”
